The following describes the basic SUPERFileRecover user interface.

SUPERFileRecover User Interface

Search Pane

The search pane allows you to select between the Basic and Advanced searching functions. Select your search location and other options and click the Search Now button to locate deleted files on your drive.

Deleted Files List

The deleted files list shows files that have been deleted and may be previewed and/or recovered. This list will be populated after you have completed a search.

Data/File Preview

The data/file preview window will show the contents of a selected file without any document formatting to help you identify files to restore. In the case of .GIF, .JPG, .PNG and .BMP picture/image files, the actual picture will be displayed for easy identification. The preview window is very useful to identify files that contain valid data for recovery. The preview window does not show document formatting - this means that if you are viewing a word processing file such as a Microsoft Word document you will see the text in the file, but you will not see text in Bold, Italics, etc. or in color. Once the file has been recovered it will appear in its original form with all formatting and colors intact.

SUPERFileRecover Toolbar

The following describes the buttons available on the SUPERFileRecover toolbar.

The Search button activates the Search Wizard to guide you through searching for deleted files.

The Recover button starts the process of recovering selected deleted files and located using the search functionality of SUPERFileRecover.

The Find button allows you to search for specific files within the list of deleted files located during your search.

The Deleted Files List button shows a detailed list of deleted files located during your search.

The Deleted Files List by Type/Extension button shows the list of deleted files located during your search categorized by file type and extension. This view is useful for locating all the files of a certain extension such as .DOC or .GIF.

The Deleted Files List by Folder button shows the list of deleted files located during your search organized into the folders where they were originally located. Note that orphaned folders (folders that have been deleted and have no parent folder) will be shown in the form of $$$Folder_<number>.

The Preview Window button toggles the display of the Preview window.

The Auto Preview button enables or disables auto previewing of files as they are clicked in the various views. When auto preview is enabled, the preview is generated each time a file is clicked. You may wish to turn this off as it can make navigating the files list view slower as the preview must be generated each time the selection is changed. You may always double-click a file to generate a preview.

The Help button activates the in-product help.
